Foodies are rarely disappointed with Britain’s festival scene.

All sorts of companies from small to large have popped up in recent years to quench the appetite of festival-goers.

From the weird to the wonderful, the captive audience of revellers is perfect ground for a true favourite of a chicken feast to make an appearance.

Never mind the next big headliner because, wait for it, McDonald’s chicken nuggets have stolen the show.

The chicken favourites are now touring British festivals and allowing revellers to not only eat them but be them too.

The #McNuggetsTour will feature a game where people have to jump to dip cushion-sized spongy nuggets into a sauce pot hanging from the ceiling.

Augmented reality

While doing so, augmented reality will turn their faces into chicken nuggets.

And the whole thing will be recorded and looped to create a hilarious short video – perfect to crack a joke on social media.

Finally, and most importantly of course, festival-goers will be rewarded with a box of the real things.

Already this month the McNuggets van has appeared at Wireless Festival, and most are living for it.

Bryony Inez said on Twitter: “I’m concerned with how many nuggets I’m going to consume this weekend now. Gonna go for 100.”

Another commented saying that he “wouldn’t leave” the nuggets stall.

But, as always, some aren’t happy. Some say festivals are sponsoring ‘animal cruelty’ by ignoring how chickens are treated in McDonalds factory farms.

Twitter user Kate Victoria said: “Other festivals seem to use their platform for good whereas you support the shameful McDonalds. Shame.”

It’s not the first time the company has appeared at British festivals, with the McFlurry having made an appearance in the years gone by.

But bosses hope to earn the love (or more love) of 16-24 year-olds with the latest unveil, with chicken nuggets found to be popular among the age group.

Ben Fox, marketing manager at McDonalds UK and Ireland, told Campaign Live: “The brand experience has been built around one of our iconic products to give festival-goers a memory worth sharing.

“It’s a bit bonkers, but celebrates the love and craziness that people have of the humble Chicken McNugget, which is played back to us every day on social media.”
