Plane spotters by trade love to watch an aircraft land, but they probably weren’t expecting this.

Shocking footage shows a British Airway jet speeding in to land – while almost flicking the hair of tourists stood beneath.

The jaw-dropping footage shows holidaymakers pushed backwards and ducking, overwhelmed by the force of two giant passenger jet engines hurtling through the sky just a few feet above them.

It happened at Skiathos Airport in Greece, famed for its spectacular landings as pilots try to navigate one of the shortest runways they have to face – just 5,341 feet.

In fact, with airport authorities well aware that plane enthusiasts won’t turn a chance to get as close to a 200mph jet as they can at Skiathos, there’s even a sign warning: “Danger please keep away from aircraft blast.”

‘Incredible’

It’s an airfield famed for its low landings, but as the video posted shows, they’re not usually this low.

Plane enthusiast ‘Cargospotter’, the user that posted it to YouTube, was raving about the viewing spot.

“We visited Skiathos for the fourth time in four years cause it’s one of the most amazing places worldwide if you are interested in aviation and spectacular approaches,” the video’s description reads.

“Low landings and jetblasts can be observed on a daily basis and last week we filmed an incredible low British Airways Embraer E190 landing.

“The people who were watching the planes were pushed from the wall by the wake turbulence of the Embraer.

“Sometimes, when the weather is good up to 100 people show up behind the runway to watch the planes land and depart.”

Those in the comments section of the video were equally spellbound.

Another joked: “The British airways Embraer Landed Lower than my grades.”

Many compared the landing to the shocking hair-raisers at the Caribbean island St Maarteen, where the airport is famed for its perilously low plane approaches to make the most of a short runway.

One YouTube user jibed: “British Airways co pilot: bet you can’t get lower than KLM’s low landing at St. Maarten.

“British Airways Captain: Hold my beer, watch this!!”
