Former Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher has continued his dispute with Lewis Capaldi by linking the singer’s home nation of Scotland to a third world country.

The Manchester-born songwriter, whose wife Sara MacDonald is from Edinburgh, also compared the record-breaking chart-topper to Star Wars character Chewbacca, and said he should “enjoy his 15 minutes” of fame.

The row started in a radio interview when Gallagher claimed he had never heard of Capaldi.

Responding, Capaldi aired the audio before his Glastonbury set and unzipped a jacket to reveal a shirt emblazoned with the guitarist’s face inside a love heart.

He was also pictured with Noel’s brother and former bandmate, Liam, in an apparent jibe to High Flying Birds frontman.

However, it didn’t go down well with Gallagher, who told Variety magazine: “F****** Chewbacca should enjoy his 15 minutes.

“The greatest day of his life that I slagged him off or called him an idiot. It’s the greatest day of his f****** life so far. He’s just thinking ‘wow’.

“Well, I know you’re Scottish and all that but f****** hell. It is like a third world country but for f***’s sake, man, you must have had a better day than this. Surely.”

Joker Capaldi reacted by changing his Twitter name to “Chewis Capaldi” – changing his profile shot to an image of his face edited onto Chewbacca’s head.
